I see you are a fan of Godel Escher Bach. Hofstadter is my favorite author. As a language teacher, I hope you have read his "Le Ton Beau du Marot: In Praise of the music of Language". If not, I would be happy to lend it to you. It is, to me, much more meaningful and insightful than Godel etc., and touches very deeply on issues of language and translation.He also has two wonderful essays on gender neutral language in his book "Metamagical Themas".
